Courses

The University of St Andrews operates on a modular degree system, and you earn your degree by accumulating credits. While students in the Faculty of Medicine will follow a more defined path, the modular system makes undergraduate study of most subjects very flexible, allowing breadth and choice in the early years. Students in the Faculties of Arts, Divinity and Science even have opportunities to take subjects outside of their own Faculty.

The space to find your perfect degree

In Years 1 and 2, you explore multiple subjects — giving you the flexibility to explore your interests before settling on a specialisation in Years 3 and 4.

St Andrews also offers integrated options: Integrated Masters (like MSci or MPhys) — typically five-year programmes designed to prepare you for advanced academic or professional careers — and a unique William & Mary joint degree, blending two years in Scotland with two in the USA.
