Course summary
If you would like to work in childcare, or if you’re employed and are keen to further your career, this course teaches the full range of skills for working with children and young people from birth to 18 years. It is the ideal route into professional childcare, teaching or other work with young people, and provides both classroom-based study and practical experience. With strong links to local employers, the course will enable you to develop knowledge and understanding of the issues faced by people working in the childcare sector and provides excellent opportunities for employment or further study.

Applications to the course will be considered on an individual basis. Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - PPP
Merit Pass is also acceptable.
Access to HE Diploma - P: 45 credits
Welsh Baccalaureate - Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate (last awarded Summer 2024) - A* - D
Additionally, GCSE passes in three subjects at grade C or above to include Mathematics and English Language (or equivalent).

Students have access to a wide range of resources including textbooks, publications, and computers in the University’s library and via online resources. In most cases they are more than sufficient to complete a course of study.
